Oddities are anomalous creatures and entities born from anomaly events. Their forms are incredibly varied — ranging from tiny glowing insects to massive shape-shifting creatures. The appearance of Oddities is closely related to the occurrence of anomalies, and some Oddities can even serve as early warning signals of impending anomalies.
Oddities are classified into five danger levels. Level 1 Oddities are essentially harmless and can even be tamed by Espers as battle companions (like Sakiri's companion Kiroumaru). Level 2 and 3 Oddities possess some aggressiveness and require trained Espers to handle. Level 4 and 5 Oddities are extremely dangerous, requiring elite teams of S-rank Espers to deal with.
The Bureau of Anomaly Control operates specialized Oddity containment facilities for researching and managing captured specimens. Some Oddities possess unique material value, and their drops serve as important resources for esper equipment enhancement and skill upgrades. This is one of the motivations for Espers to actively hunt Oddities. At the Eibon Antique Shop, the Appraiser can identify the origin and attributes of Oddities, which is crucial for the Bureau's research work.
